The AA option allows the monitor to be powered by AA batteries by including an AA battery mount.

It’s a bit hard to achieve the dynamic balance, but once you got it, it just stays set. O have an Glidecam HD1000, and i need to balance it every 30minutes. With the Pilot, i can set the balance on the night before the wedding and it’s still good after the wedding is over.
This is most definitely a good Steadicam system to start with. It is easily the cheapest full system that Steadicam offers, and provides excellent results for the price. That said, the quality of the product shows that it is the cheapest system. It is mostly very high quality, but there are a few small things that reveal the compromises that come from the price tag. First, the LCD screen is rather low quality. It feels cheap, looks cheap, and is cheap.
But, it does it’s job well enough to keep it from losing a star for performance. Next, the wiring on the head of the column is questionable. The connection solders are exposed, and look very flimsy. Again, however, since they perform well and are protected by the head’s size, they do not detract from the performance of the system. The last minor complaint is that the case it comes with is poorly fit for the system. The foam cutouts are inaccurate and reflect the “one size fits all” method Steadicam used for the case. The Pilot does fit, and is protected well, but it takes considerable effort to make everything fit correctly. One surprising note, the AA model offers impressive battery life. I have experienced over four hours of use form one set of AA’s, and that was with the default factory charge on the batteries.Overall, this is a solid system that will increase the artistic and professional appeal of almost any footage.
